Residential Chicken Ordinance Passed

On Monday, February 10, City Council approved an ordinance to allow for chickens on residentially-zoned properties with a single-family dwelling. The ordinance will go into effect on March 31, 2025. The full ordinance, along with a web page complete with all information, will be available soon. 


Important information to know:

- Residents may have five or less chickens. Only hens are allowed, roosters are prohibited. 

- All chickens must be kept in the backyard and are not allowed in the front or side yards. 

- A fence and roof must surround the well-ventilated coop. Chickens must be in the coop when the resident is not present. 

- Other farm animals such as ducks, pigs, goats, etc. are not allowed.
